Stream Assessment
and Monitoring

On behalf of DFO, we take monthly measurements of dissolved oxygen and turbidity, and maintain a continuous temperature data logger.
The Walley Creek Streamkeepers are also part of the Regional District of Nanaimo's Community Watershed Monitoring Network. More information and reports can be found here.

Education
and Outreach

An important part of our goal is to engage youth and residents of the watershed about the diversity of life it supports!
We achieve this through regular communication with residents, stewardship activities with local schools, and participation in City of Nanaimo's outreach events.

Projects &
Capacity Building

Stream assessment and ongoing monitoring help us set restoration priorities.  We then look for grants and in-kind donations of materials and labour to help with projects to improve the health of Walley Creek.

The Walley Creek Streamkeepers are a committee of the Nanaimo & Area Land Trust
